Introducing: OxfordAQA’s annual support cycle

OxfordAQA offers teachers a comprehensive range of support for every aspect of delivering our qualifications. To help you identify what session best suits your need, we've put together a short guide to all of our online and in-person training.

Plan

Our ‘Plan’ sessions provide all the information needed to deliver OxfordAQA qualifications with confidence, so teachers can rest assured they are giving students the best preparation for their exams.

Prepare to Teach

Our Prepare to Teach webinars are an introduction to each OxfordAQA specification by an examiner or specification developer, covering syllabus, assessment and curriculum planning to provide the essential foundations for teaching. Running in March and April every year, they are designed for teachers at schools who are either delivering our specification for the first time or have joined a department that already teaches OxfordAQA.

Senior Associate Tours

As teachers, you know the benefits in-person support has on your students – and at OxfordAQA, we know these extend to teachers too. That’s why we regularly send our Senior Associates – examiners, specification developers or other subject experts – into our regions to meet you and hold workshops on the topics you need most support with. These sessions continually receive positive feedback from attendees and Senior Associates alike, so keep a look out for our next visit to your country!

Senior Associate Clinics

If you’re unable to attend one of the in-person tours, we also offer Senior Associate Clinics, which are unique opportunities to meet personally with an OxfordAQA Senior Associate and receive bespoke support and guidance on individual issues. These online workshops are available on request and can be held at a time that suits you and the Senior Associate.

To arrange a workshop, please speak to your local OxfordAQA consultant who will be happy to assist you.

“Getting access to the OxfordAQA Senior Associate Clinics was absolutely tremendous. They gave me detailed answers to all my questions and it felt like I was being taught how to teach privately, which was absolutely amazing. It also helped me help my students achieve the grades they wanted to achieve.”
Ahmad Nidal Karkou, ESL Teacher, Cairo, Egypt

Teach

Our ‘Teach’ sessions are designed to help you get the most out of delivering an OxfordAQA qualification and take your students – and their ideas – further.

Getting Started

In September and October, our Getting Started sessions are a step-by-step guide to the upcoming year teaching an OxfordAQA qualification. After a short recap of the specification and assessment structure, our experts take an in-depth look at the scheme of work – which provides a suggested path through the curriculum – and the supporting resources designed to enhance your classroom experience. These sessions are suited to both new OxfordAQA teachers and established educators looking for a refresher.

Teacher Toolkit

Covering specific aspects of an OxfordAQA qualification or other topics of pedagogical interest, our Teacher Toolkit sessions respond to your feedback to provide the guidance and support you need most. These can take place at any point during the academic year and are announced with plenty of time to register, so stay up-to-date with our training page to ensure you never miss a chance to hear from us!

Assess

Our ‘Assess’ sessions take a look at OxfordAQA exams, mark schemes, student answers and examiner feedback to ensure you have a full understanding of how students can best access top grades.

Marking Guidance and Examiner Insight

At our Marking Guidance and Examiner Insight webinars, OxfordAQA examiners analyse real students’ exam answers in comparison with the mark scheme and demonstrate how and why marks have – or have not – been allocated. These sessions run for all specifications in November, and then again for all our Science and English as a Second Language qualifications in March, providing plenty of opportunity for OxfordAQA teachers to gain understanding of our assessment process and the standards needed to achieve high grades.

“Marking Guidance gave me excellent insights into how students can improve their marks in exam answers.”
OxfordAQA Teacher, March 2024
