Sociology
OxfordAQA’s International GCSE and A-level Sociology qualifications, available for first teaching from September 2026, offer students a powerful lens for understanding the world around them — from families and education to inequality and globalisation.
At International GCSE, students are introduced to key sociological theories, concepts and methods, with a strong emphasis on real-world application. Students are encouraged to draw on their own experiences and examples from the societies they live in, helping them develop critical thinking and independent analysis skills.
At International A-level, students build on this foundation by exploring classical and contemporary sociological theory. The modular structure offers flexibility and depth, allowing students to engage with a wide range of topics while developing a strong theoretical and analytical grounding.
