International GCSE Media Studies (9257)

Introduce your students to the possibilities of the dynamic media landscape

Through exploring a range of media products and challenging creativity, our International GCSE Media Studies course will spark your students’ curiosity and prepare them for further study.

  • The only GCSE Media Studies qualification designed exclusively for international students, with internationally and culturally relevant content that ensures no student is disadvantaged.
  • Includes a coursework module that develops students’ creativity and practical skills.
  • Adopts a flexible approach that allows schools the freedom to select their own materials and teaching sources across a range of modern media formats.

In order to give teachers more flexibility in selecting their chosen Selected Media Products (SMPs), we have changed the timeframe for contemporary SMPs from six years to ten years. We have updated the specification and the scheme of work for Paper 1 to reflect this change.

We’ve also released a brand new Teachers Guide for Selected Media Products, which provides further guidance, detail and exemplification about this feature of the specification.
